Downie Psychiatry provides comprehensive adult psychiatric services, including the assessment and diagnosis of all psychiatric conditions, and medication management and therapy.

Q. What is a psychiatrist?
A. Psychiatrists are mental health professionals that are first trained as medical doctors, then complete at least 4 additional years of training, can prescribe medications and provide psychotherapy and counseling.
Q. Are you accepting new patients?
A. Yes, appointments can typically be obtained within one to two weeks.
Q. Do you accept insurance?
A. No, Downie Psychiatry does not accept insurance, but will provide receipts that you can submit to your own insurance provider for possible reimbursement.
Q. What are your office hours?
A. Office hours will be by appointment only, please call the office at 803-791-1485 for an appointment.
Q. How long are appointments?
A. Initial consultations are 1 hour, with follow up appointments 30 minutes.
Q. What are our rates?
A. Rates are $350 for a new patient appointment, and $175 for a follow-up appointment.
Q. How often are patients seen?
A. Typically, once every 3 months, but patients can be seen more frequently as needed.
Q. What type of payment methods are accepted?
A. Checks, credit cards or cash. Payment is expected at time of appointment.
Q. What is the cancellation policy?
A. Cancellations must be made with 24 hours notice prior to appointment time. If 24 hours notice is not given, a charge will apply for the failed visit.
Q. Do you provide telepsychiatry appointments?
A. Yes, the initial intake appointment will be in person, with each follow-up appointment being either in-person or telepsychiatry.
Q. Do you see children?
A. Dr. Downie only sees adults ages 18 and up.
